Chelliah Park City is a new medium and low cost affordable housing located in the vicinity of Georgetown. This development is a part of Penang state's affordable housing programme, which was tendered to property developer, Zubicon.
Estimated to be completed by 2016, the leasehold Chelliah Park City development comes in single 43 storey tower with 2 other smaller towers. A total of 1,900 units were offered in this development which has built-up ranging between 700 sf and 1,000 sf. In terms of layouts, the development comes in four types. The first three types are medium cost, while the final type are low medium cost. Type A is a 1,000 sf apartment with 80 units; Type B is a 900 sf apartment with 165 units; Type C is a 800 sf apartment with 885 units; Type D is a 700 sf apartment with 770 units.
Facilities offered at Chelliah Park City are multi storey car park, rooftop garden, futsal court, badminton court, community hall, kindergarten, linear park and green space are also arranged to provide comfortable living for the tenants. Proposed to be a self-contained development, it also strives to become a central business district that offer public facilities such as a linear park, 70% green space, bus terminal, bicycle lane, pedestrian walkway and a surau.
In terms of amenities, Chelliah Park City is located closely to Pasar Jalan Tujuh, Pasar Chowrasta, Gama Supermarket, SRJKC Hu Yew Seah, SK Kampung Jawa, Union Primary School, Westlands Secondary School, Wellesley Primary School, Pykett Methodist School, Methodist Girl's Secondary School, Copra Hawker, Traders Hotel, Komtar, Prangin Mall, New World Park, Loh Guan Lye Specialist Centre, Hospital Pulau Pinang, Penang Plaza, Gleneagles Medical Center, Gurney Drive and 1st Avenue Mall.
